About Book Art workshop series

Join our crafting and drawing workshop series inspired by the fascinating contemporary art field of Book Art, and create your own handmade notebook with illustrations. Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, everyone with an interest in bookbinding and illustration is welcome. Over the course of five engaging sessions, you will explore different stages, techniques, and art forms surrounding the creation of artists' books, while developing your own story world through these processes:

    1. Bookbinding: learn the art of crafting a handmade notebook.
    2. Mixed media – graphic art and watercolor: create your own bookmark using a combination of drawing and watercolor techniques.
    3. Animal drawing – proportions and fur: master the basics of animal proportions and textures, then create your own fantasy creatures.
    4. People drawing – proportions and emotions: explore human anatomy and develop human-like characters in either realistic or cartoon style.
    5. Calligraphy: discover writing as an art form and enhance your story with unique lettering.

Through these workshops, you will craft your own notebook filled with original characters and their environments, complete with a matching bookmark. Along the way, you will deepen your understanding of composition, art elements, and the ability to develop a cohesive idea through visual techniques, as well as nurture your creativity, patience, and precision.

By the end of the course, you will not only have a one-of-a-kind notebook but also a newfound appreciation for handmade books and experience in the visual arts and writing processes involved in the field of Book Art.
